Special Traffic Plan for Joint Session of Parliament


Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has prepared a special traffic plan on the occasion of the joint sitting of the Parliament today (Monday) keeping in view the security situation. 

According to the traffic plan, entry of all types of traffic into the red zone area will be proscribed after 2 p.m. on Monday. Margalla Road from trail three, Agha Khan road from Ayub Chowk, Jinnah Avenue from express chowk will be closed for traffic. The vehicles having the red and green cards will have the permission to enter the red zone. Entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad has also been blocked from the midnight of Sunday and Monday. Heavy vehicles, which have been issued the permit of entrance, will also not be able to make their way into Islamabad. 

Acting SSP Traffic Mir Niaz while giving final touches to the traffic plan, said that Fazlul Haq Road would be blocked from great wall chowk while the traffic heading towards sectors G-5 and G-6 will be blocked from Bank Road bazaar chowk.

The traffic on the State Bank Road will be halted from Federal Lodges while Dhokary chowk will be blocked for the traffic heading towards Soharwardy Road. On the Constitution Avenue, traffic will be blocked from Radio Pakistan chowk while Shams picket will be closed for the traffic coming from Diplomatic Enclave. 

The acting SSP traffic said the traffic plan has been prepared in view of the security threats and people should cooperate with the Islamabad Police and use alternative routes. He said the personnel of traffic police have been deputed on all the blocked points, and they will guide the people about the alternative routes.
