Margalla Hills of Islamabad


The Margalla Hills are a series of hills located north of Islamabad, Pakistan. The Margalla hills in Islamabad are tremendous for hiking point of view for the people of Islamabad and visitors of Islamabad city. The best season to hike is the mild winter months when there is less rain and the days are extremely pleasant. Margalla hills are home to various species of wild life including exotic birds and other animals like monkeys, rare leopards. Popular places of picnic at Margalla hills like Daman-e-Koh (centre of mountain), Pir Sohawa, Loh-i-Dandi etc. These spots of Margallah Hills are the best for walk, hiking, cycling, camping and picnic. People of twin cities (Rawalpindi/ Islamabad) are rush to the Margalla Hills to beat the heat in the summer season. Daman-e-Koh and Pir Sohawa have been developed to facilitate tourists in better way. Only ten minutes drive from Islamabad to reach Daman-e-Koh and thirty minutes to reach Pir Sohawa which is the top of the Margalla Hills.
