Comedian Jerry Lewis who has cancelled his Sydney shows because of exhausted situation and was not able to reach sold out event at Rooty Hill RSL on Friday. Before that he performed at Brisbane on Wednesday.
The 85-year-old arrived in Australia last Monday for a string of shows to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia .
The chief executive of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia , David Jack, said Lewis was sorry to have let his fans down but was on the mend.
''We are very pleased to report that Jerry is feeling much better today after spending today and last night resting in his hotel,'' Mr Jack said.
A $300-a-head benefit in Pyrmont planned for last night was cancelled, as was a $500-a-head show at Cronulla tonight.
Lewis is expected to be well enough to continue his national tour in Melbourne this week.
The group general manager for marketing and strategy at Rooty Hill RSL, Ian Lowe, said guests had been understanding and, while they had been offered refunds on their $50 tickets, many declined, donating the money to the foundation instead.
